South Dakota Pheasant Hunts

Up until 3 years ago I had never hunted Ringneck Pheasants, boy I’m glad JL finally talked me into hunting with him. JL Eldridge has a fabulous operation with plenty of private land to hunt and an unbelievable amount of Pheasants. These are all wild birds which makes them a real challenge for the wingshooter. The seasons open in October and runs through the end of the year but the weather usually stops the hunting around the first week of December. Our group usually takes the last week which is the week following Thanksgiving. Even late in the season there are plenty of birds and most of the time the crops are in so the birds are concentrated making it a little easier to locate them. You will get plenty of exercise on this hunt but if you can convince your buddies that your big toe hurts you can do all of the blocking and make them “get in the corn”. The hunt price includes all room and board for 5 nights with 4 days of hunting. JL’s wife Valarie does all of the cooking and believe me, it’s a good thing that you get the exercise or you would gain weight on this hunt. The setting is an old farm house with plenty of room for relaxing after a hard days hunt. You may bring your own dog or JL has dogs on the premises.
